A Hard Candy Christmas

Christmas
The Day of Jesus Chirst birth.

The ideal christmas is filled with joy and christmas spirit. It is a time to reflect and thank God for what we have but this isn't always the case.

If your feeling down this season you aren't alone. Sometimes it is hard to be thankful when things aren't 100% perfect. It is easy to have a blue blue blue christmas. No matter what is going on in our life from a heart break to finacial problems, our sorrows tend to bring us down. We have to remeber that Christmas is a time to take a break from our daily worries and celebrate. TIt may seem hard but I can tell you one person has helped me get thought this season.
Dolly Parton.
Hard Candy Christmas is a song about even if things aren't going as planned, you need to put them aside and enjoy the season. It is easy to relate to and puts you in the mood to persevere this christmas. Plus Dolly's voice has that comforting ring to it.

Enjoy the season, Have a Merry Christmas and may God bess you and your family.

My Life Is Average

My Life Is Average

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

Hello, my name is Lauren and I am a reader of My Life Is Average aka a MLIAer and this is my story.

When I first started reading MLIA I really thought I could control it. I knew some people got sucked in but I told myself that would never happen to me. At first, I only visited the sight occasionally; I knew I could count on it to make me chuckle and feel good. I enjoyed the stories of ninja and harry potter to funny realization and encounters. MLIA gave me a place I felt accepted and I could release my inner child.

Then things took a turn. Reading MLIA became a daily occurrence. I still thought I had it under control but then I started reading MLIA as soon as I got home, before I went to bed, I even read it at school. It started taking over my life. I wasn’t just reading MLIA I was living it. I would find average moments in my own life that no one else would see. I started playing with nerf guns, looking for Waldo, and coming up with witty jokes I could say. I even started voting on submissions and rating and commenting posts. Soon it wasn’t just the posts that started with “Today” and ended with “MLIA” it was my life. It was then I realized I had lost control. I was ashamed. I started denying it and became a closet reader but this admission has made me realize one thing.

I don’t have a problem. I use to have a life but now I have a more interesting more average life and I like it that way. I am proud to be a Mailer. I will continue. If you don’t know what MLIA is, then let me be the one to introduce you to an average place. You will thank me in the end.

Today, I realized the ice cream flavor "death by chocolate" must not be as witty to someone with a chocolate allergy. MLIA.

Today, my boss passed me in the hall at work and asked me "Do you have a sec?". I was trying to be flippant and replied "I have tons of secs". We both pretended I didn't say that. MLIA

Today, my body wash bottle, it whistled. It sounded like when you whistle at an attractive person. It was awkward, because I was naked. MLIA

Today, I got a 52 pack of colouring pencils. I also got a new pencil case for them. When I got home I was going to put them in until i realised that the pencil case wasn't long enough for the pencils. I spent my afternoon sharpening 52 pencils so that they could fit in the pencil case. MLIA

Now that you have had your first taste, go to My Life Is Average now.

Future Me

November 24, 2009

Dear FutureMe,

How are things going? It is the last week of your senior year, be proud of yourself. What ever happened, has happened. You have done your best and so take a moment be grateful for all the opportunities give to you. Don't worry if things didn't happened as planned because they aren't supposed to. Its hard for me to say this because right now I am planning your life down to the period but I know in the end everything will work out.

Remember when you were dying to join the circus? your giant crush on the neighbor? owning a sloth? skipping homecoming, going to sonic and sneaking into The Hangover w/ Joseph? your Quinceanera? your obsession w/ going to Stanford? stealing the sign from McDonald's? new york? spelunking? private school? the great debate? starting JLU? wanting to go to Tibet? loving the 1950's and 60's

your friends? Make new friends and keep the old. If you've drifted away from someone, get to know them again. Say hi to all my old and new friends for me Alex, Caitlin, Emily, Marrissa, Kassandra, Joseph, Roger, Zachary, Natalia, Christine, Estefania, Mike and Madeline.

Its sophomore year. Mr. Strickland is your favorite teacher. Your new neighbor/friend Lucas is really nice. AP world history is killing you. You are kinda in a rut on what do with the whole IB, medical academy, and Softball thing. This week you spent a lot of time with Alex, I hope you two are still good friends because y'all know how to read each others mind. Be nice to him and don't make fun of his shortness. Keep practicing your Spanish. I wish I could tell you more and ask you some questions but I know I/you will figure everything out soon enough. Don't forget to Love your self.

Sincerely,
Lauren M

The Blind Side

Thanksgiving is day when we stuff stale turkey down our throats and listen to Abueltia complain about everything from the food to the way you are dressed or at least that is how it’s done in my house. Thanksgiving is celebrated relatively the same among all people, the main aspects including food and family with variations of parades and football. It’s the day afterwards that defines us also know as Black Friday.

You have a one of three choices on this day. Option 1 is waking up at 3 in the morning, running to Wal-Mart and fighting with the lady next to you for a under priced plasma screen TV or the latest fashion doll. Option 2 is sleeping in till noon, eating a leftover turkey sandwich, and then going back for more sleep. Simple and to the point. Lastly you have option three. Option 3 is grabbing the local newspaper, skipping the advertisements, and checking the movie show times. Let me tell you option three is your best choice, you are able to enjoy yourself but still get over yesterdays heart burn. Now a lot of different movies come out during this time so it might be a little overwhelming on what to choose but I’ll make it easy for you and just tell you the answer.

Blind Side

Blind side is a true story of Michael Oher, a homeless boy from a broken home, taken in by the Touhys, a upper class family who help him fulfill his potential. At the same time, Michael’s presence in the Touhys' lives leads them to discover and learn the true meaning of family. Michael overcome challenges from grades to becoming one of the most valued football players. The movie is based of the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis

Blind side is going to be another one of those all around pleasures. It has the football action scenes for the boys, the heartfelt make you feel warm inside moments for the girls, and those laugh out loud parts that everyone loves. Plusthe very talented Sandra Bullock. You can’t help but love that chica.
In the end I give this movie 4 out of 5 slices of turkey. So eat up and see this movie. Bring the whole family, even Abuelita. She won’t complain, because trust me, this movies is worth it.

Backwards Dictionary

You know that word that means motivation, kinda like urge...but its not that...you know that word?
Inspiration?
No not that word...it has a "D" in it and is also short...
No, I don't know sorry
UGH!!!!.....never mind

Have you ever gone through a conversation like that? I do at least once a day. I always feel a little stupid, especially on the simple words. I know what it means, but the actual word just slips my mind. Those days are over. I have found the answer, the treasure chest, the greatest invention ever.
Backwards Dictionary

In a regular dictionary you look up a word to find its definition but in a backwards dictionary you look up a definition and find a word that matches it...I'll give you a second to absorb that and all its greatness.....WOW right?
Who ever came up with this idea is my hero.
So far I have only found one website that offers this option www.onelook.com/reverse-dictionary.shtml but trust me I can guarantee this idea will be catching on pretty soon.

(Brownie point to whoever can figure out the word I was thinking of)

I found a Happy Ending

If your like me you like a little bit of everything when it comes to your music and boy do I have a great song for you.
Happy Ending by MIKA

Now I've heard this song before on an episode of Gossip Girl but for the first time Ive REALLY heard it. I stumbled across this song again when doing some random youtube searching and I am glad I did because it has got it all. The choir, the orchestra, the heart felt lyrics, a great beat. I'm a sucker for stuff that gets your heart beating along with the song. Most importantly this song has me singing along by the end. The funny thing is that its got that inspirational vibe to it but when you listen to the lyrics they are just a little bit of a downer.....yet another reason to love it.

MIKA has a crazy sound, completely one of a kind. I have a feeling I am going to like the rest of his work. I'm not gonna lie, this song probably isn't for everyone but I highly recommend you check it out for yourself. You can find Happy Ending on their album Happy Ending

Guilty Pleasure: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Making the Team

You know those late nights when you just don't want to go to sleep, you channel surf until AHAH you find the perfect TV marathon..well I had one of those moments last night.

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team
enough said

I truly think, this show was made for someone like me. I love the dancing, the competition, everything. The show is basically a behind the scene look at that it takes to become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. I love when they give you the story behind the contestant, show who they really I are. One story that really touched me was this one woman who's husband was deployed and was raising her child who couldn't be more than two by her self. I was secretly cheering her on. The cuts probably are my favorite part. I love the reactions. Sure... I like watching the people who make it cause I'm happy for them but I secretly like to watch the ones who get cut. I know its mean but don't lie you know you do it to.

But my absolute favorite part is when the shows over because I love the feeling it leaves me with. It is just inspiring. I just want to get up and dance and I think maybe one day I can be a Dallas cowboy cheerleader. Now that be cool wouldn't it.

2 matching shoes
1 hot date
1 giant mum
11 players on a winning football team

HOT Date

OK lets get real, sure we can have good time with just our friends but having a hot piece of arm candy just makes it that much better.
I mean come on who doesn't want the perfect accessory??

Now there are a lot of different guys to consider when making the decision of who gets to have the honor of being your date. Today we are going to go over them all but with a little twist.

WELCOME TO.....
THE BACHELORETE CELEBRITY EDITION with your host Lauren

Zac Efron- Mr. Popular

The boy everyone knows and everyone loves. He is usually charming, funny, and gorgeous. Perfect date if you want to hang with some cool people and get noticed. Not so perfect date if you don't want the unwanted attention or compete for his attention. (a girl should never have to compete)

Taylor Lautner- The best friend

You have known him for a while. You two get along so well your completing each others sentences and you both know how to party hard. Perfect date if you want to just relax and have fun with someone you know you will get along with. Not so perfect date if you want to be more romantic

Ed Westwick- The bad boy
The guy your parents warned you about but you just couldn't listen. His mysterious bad boy behavior intrigues you. You can't get enough and know he is just "misunderstood" and good at heart. Perfect date if you want a night full of surprises and to have a blast. Not so perfect date if you don't want to be around a bad influence

The Jonas Brothers- The pretty boy

You catch your self starring, even when you don't mean to. You know he could show up in shorts and flip flops and still look good. Perfect date if get to know the person behind the face and you want to have the best looking date for miles around. Not so perfect if that person is also in love with their looks. It'll be more about him less about you (remember it's always about you)

David Archuleta- The Wild Card

He is a little bit of everything and the new kid in town. He's funny, romantic, good looking the list goes on and on. Give him a chance. Perfect date if you have been dying to get to know him. Trust me, you'll be surprised what you will find. Not so perfect date if...hold up there are no down sides..hmmm I think I found my date.

Now its time to pick! Who will be your homecoming date? The pretty boy, the best friend? It's all up to you, pick the one that feels right.
Well that's all we have time for tonight but join us next time on

Receta for Homecoming: Shoes

The Receta for homecoming
1 Vestido Bonito
2 matching shoes
1 hot date
1 giant mum
11 players on a winning football team

2 matching shoes

Always wear nice shoes, people notice

When choosing a pair of shoes for homecoming there are a lot of things you could consider. There are the logical question like how much they cost and are they comfortable. These are important but some times you have to throw those questions out the window and live a little even if its only through your shoes.

Shoes are like the icing on the birthday cake. The best part and required to be complete. A perfect dress always needs the perfect pair of shoes

My picks

Mary Jane's with a hot twist. I remember always wearing Mary jane's in Catholic school and now I still can (without the plaid uniform). These Maryjane heels look different but trust me they are worth it. They give off the good girl gone bad look and they look good with any dress formal or casual. The black is serious but the silver says your wild and like to party. This particular pair is by Chunk of Change.

If you aren't ready to wear the sky scraper heels there is no need to worry I got what you need right here. They are the perfect way to be formal and comfy. You can wear and dance in these shoes all night because no one wants to be dancing with bare feet on nasty floor. I can not get over the jewels. They give it the "broach" look and they aren't to flashy or trashy. The patchwork is also a nice touch. This style from Chinese Laundry come in both bronze and sliver

Flash back to the 70's. If you haven't noticed platforms are the new old thing. This pair in the madden girl collection by Steve Madden has the popular platform style but its still modern. The great thing about the shoes is that this one can flex between both casual and dressy. The colors are very fall. This platform is perfect for the young or young at heart because lets be honest no one wants to go around wearing grandma shoes.

Receta for homecoming: Vestidos

The Receta for homecoming

1 Vestido Bonito
2 matching shoes
1 hot date
1 Mum Grande!
11 players on a winning football team

Directions: Preheat your heart to warm Mix together all ingredients in one night and enjoy

Now that you have the recipe lets look over the ingredients. One day at a time.
PRIMERO

1 Vestido Bonito
Pick a dress that makes you feel beautiful. It can be long, short, or sparkly whatever represents you. Here are some of my picks.

This is a cheap but stunning dress. Only $59 at Macy's. I really love the two toned dress empire waist trend you see every where. This dress is a little nontraditional for a homecoming dress but it is great if you want to stand out in the crowd. The bright pink complements the black and the belt pulls it all together

If you want a dress more formal this is a good dress. The purple shades are great on any skin color. This organza dress is sweet but still a little sassy. This dress also has the empire waist which is flattering to all body shapes. It is in the sticks and stone collection by mori lee.

Post a comment and tell me what you think, what your wearing to homecoming, or just whatever comes to your head
