A poem for Matteo Manassero

Matteo Manassero,
I like you. I like you a lot. Consider yourself lucky because not many people get this honor. There are many reasons I have made this decision and I would like to inform the world in a poem I have written.

Matteo Manassero you are the one for me
Matteo Manassero you make my heart got yipee!
Your accent is cute and your broken English make me flutter
The youngest peron at the masters you work magic with your putter
Only an ameture but you play golf like a pro
You came from Europe but we know soon we will see you some mo'
Matteo Manassero brown hair and Italian skin
Matteo Manasssero you aren't cocky but humble every time you win

Give me a call if you ever stop by Texas babe ;)
Love Lauren

Cheap Trick

When I was a little girl, my family would always listen to Mix 94.7. I remember always hearing this one song that I quickly feel in love with. I didn't know the title or the artist who sang it but I would pray for it to play on the radio.

Years later I finally figured out the song.

I want you to want me by Cheap Trick.

From then on they held a special spot on my I-pod but that wasn't enough I wanted to see them in concert. Last night I achieved my dream at SXSW but just seeing them in concert wasn't enough I wanted to be front row, so that is what I did. I squeezed my way forward, pissed some people off, and almost lost my cousin but I finally made it to the very front, on the railing. Then the most magical thing happen. While Robin Zander was singing The Flame, he looked at me in the eyes, smiled and gave me a the nod. I melted and in that moment I was in love. Then he sang to me. He looked me right and the eyes and sang the words to me.

It was a night that I plan to remember, a living of a childhood dream.

P.S. Rick Nielson threw me a guitar pic. It's ok to be jealous.

The Twilight Sage: Ecilpse

So...The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer came out Thursdays.
AYE DIOS MIO!!
My heart is pumping.
Yes, the movie does look exactly like the other twilight sage movies but that is exactly why we will all go see it. We can't get enough of our over dramatic vampires, so corny its cute romance, and buff werewolves with nice abs.

P.S. Yes, I am a closet twilighter. Don't judge me.

David Archuletta: Future Baby Daddy

David Archuletta is my new baby daddy. Why?

The answer is simple. He has to be the cutest latino boy I have ever laid eyes on. This 19 year old from Honduras has the voice of the angles. I really never paid much attention to him until recently when he made an appearance in the spanish version of the We Are the World 2010. Let me tell you, when he sings in spanish PHEW he blows me away. He definitely needs to come out with a spanish album because right now he only has a couple songs here and there.

Plus look at that Face, who wouldn't love those checks?

Frosty Fun Fundraiser

Ice cream is happiness condensed. ~Jessi Lane Adams

Everyone loves ice cream, there is no doubt in my mind. And everyone has a favorite flavor. Mine? Cookies 'N Cream. Ice Cream only has one downside though, this melt in your mouth goodness is the arch enemy of your favorite pair of skinny jeans. So even after you die and go to heaven in Ice Creamy goodness, there is always a feeling of guilt leftover. What if I told you I know a way to take away the guilt. This way ice cream won't be a guiltyy pleasure any more, just pure pleasure. This may seem like an impossible request, something that only the gods could answer but the answer is the Frosty Fun Fundraiser.

The Frosty Fun Fundraiser is a fundraiser that is put on by the Austin NHI chapter to raise money for scholarships for participants in the National Hispanic Institute's leadership programs such as the Youth Leadership Conference and Lorenzo de Zavala. So join me at Baskin Robbins February 28th between 5:00pm and 10:00pm at the 9911 Brodie location in South Austin and Baskin Robbins will be donating 20% of all profits made. Now how can you feel guilty when you know that you are helping build future leaders for the Latino Community. I can't. So grab a scoop of your favorite flavor from Rocky Road to Pistachio Almond guilt free and meet me at Baskin Robbins.

Cat walk for Haiti

The RedCross is not the only place helping Haiti anymore. After recent disaster due to the earthquake in Haiti everyone is trying to do their part. Including the Fashion Industrie thanks to superstar Naomi Cambell.

If you remember Naomi Cambell was the first person to organize Fashion for Relief, a charity fashion show after Hurricane Katrina. After great success she is at it again, but this time for Haiti. Fashion for Relief is a charity event where top models and designers will come togeather on Febuary 12th during fashion week at Bryant Park in New York.

A lot of people are giving up their time especially in a hectic period when designers are trying to finish off their fall line and everyone is preparing for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Including designer Charlotte Ronson who gave up her original time slot at Fashion Week. Marc Jacobs has created a special Louis Vuitton handbag for this event, one of many items that will go on sale after the event on net-a-porter.com on March 15. Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe from The Rachel Zoe Project on BravoTV will be putting together all the looks. Lastly Naomi Cambell herself will be walking the cat walk and participate from Christy Turlington fashion icon and activist and the Duchess of York.
Tickets are on sale at Ticketmaster or click here.
All proceeds will be going to the organization CARE

Baile Folklorico De Mexico De Amalia Hernández

Baile Folklorico is a beautiful art form that doesn't just show diversity of Mexico but the history as well. From Jalisco to Colima each dance is unique and tells a story about where they come from. Baile Folklorico is known and taught world wide from Private companies to public schools.

It was not always like this though. There was a time when seeing this gorgeous art form was uncommon and starting to disappear. Luckily someone noticed and took action. We have to thank Amalia Hernández . She did not just rediscover the old dances from all over Mexico but created them from the choreographs to costumes. In 1952 Ms. Amalia Hernández started her own Baile Company which would turn into the World renown Baile Folklorico De Mexico. Luckily for Amalia she came from a wealthy background and had overwhelming support from her parents that they built her Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico city so they always had a place to preforme. Baile Folklorico was starting to become well known all over the Americas because of her but got the world attention it deserved when she showcased dances during the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.

Baile Folklorico De Mexico De Amalia Hernandez has set the bar for all other Baile Folklorico groups. As a fellow driver and haveing the privledge to see them in person I can guarantee that in that they live up to their reputation.

Benicio Del Toro: The Wolfman

I love to see my fellow Latinos making it big on the silver screen. I enjoy the movie just a little bit more knowing I am supporting them and that the person giving that great performance on the big screen shares the same Latino culture as me

This week I will be making an effort to go see The Wolfman Starring Benicio Del Toro, and so should you. If you know a little bit about the Film Industry you should be able to recognize both the actor and the movie, if not let me give you an update.

Benicio Del Toro was born in 1967 in Puerto Rico. You may recognize him Toro from his breakout role as Dario in the James Bond movie Licence To Kill, making him the youngest actor to ever play a James Bond Villain. He has been both involved in the English and Spanish film industry but most notably known for Traffic and 21 Grams where he was both nominated and received a Golden Globe.

Benicio Del Toro plays the main character in The Wolfman, a recreation of the 1949 version. The Wolfman is about Lawrence Talbot, a nobleman, that is comes back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. He becomes reunited with his father and together they go out to look for his brother where Lawrence become bit my the wolfman and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself. The movie is directed by Joe Johnston and with 6 time golden globe winner for visual effects, Rick Baker; so you can expect to see some kick-butt action scene and performances. Plus I hear it has a great sound score and with front man Benicio Del Toro with his rouged wilderness man look that I just can't get enough of, I am sure this movie will be a great horror/thriller film for a Friday night.

Edison Lecture Series

The Edison Lecture Series is an annual event located at The University of Texas. I can't say it was one of the most interesting or exciting lecture of my life but it had some good points. The main one was Inventors vs. Innovators

Inventors live before their time, people think what they have created is useless. They die poor. Innovators make the time right, they look at something and say " This thing has some real potential" Then either change the market or change the product some people want it. In the end Innovators win. I was surprised at first to.

One of the greatest products of innovation is the first Apple I-pod. Nothing on that I-pod was new technology. Not the small screen, the ability to download music, the size, connection to music....not even the click wheel. These technologie have been around as late as the 1970's. The one thing that makes the I-pod great is that it was the first to put all these technologies together into something for everyday use. Thus, the world was changed.

I didn't go to the lecture to have my eyes open, I went to get out of school. It opened my eyes anyways. It put thing into a new prespective and to think with an open mind. I am glad I went.

Forever 21

Have you ever had one of those moments that would change your life forever? I had one of those forever moments. It's called Forever 21

I was introduced to a store called Forever 21. Now I had heard of this store before, about the clothes and accessories, but I never thought much of it. I never experienced it first hand until now.

In summary Forever 21 is everything a girl could imagine put into one store. Accessories, blouses, dresses, jeans, shoes, jewelry....the list goes on. The first time I walked into Forever 21 the breath was taken out of me and I was in shock. Okay maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration but it is pretty close.

Forever 21 really has a mixture of styles so its easy to find something for every one but if I had to put it into a category I would call it a chic modern look with feminine flair. Also the clothes are very reasonably priced, I didn't buy a thing over 25. Just be careful with the clothes, as they are not of the highest quality.

Basically I blew all my Christmas money at Forever 21. As soon as I got the chance, I went back for more. I don't regret it. So if you have some money to spend and can handle what this store has to offer, then I recommend Forever 21.
